COPPERAS COVE – Tuesday night, the Copperas Cove ISD Board of Trustees approved the addition of a second polling place in May’s bond election.
The addition includes extended hours for early voting and will allow more CCISD voters to let their voice be heard.
“In October, prior to calling the 2024 Bond Election, the Board authorized us to conduct a pre-Bond survey, which indicated more voters would participate in the election if there were expanded polling locations and hours,” CCISD Superintendent of Schools Dr. Joe Burns said. “We are confident that, by adding these additional measures, it will allow all of our Bulldawg community to let their voice be heard, regardless of how they vote.”
The second location will be in a portable building located behind the fueling station at H-E-B Plus, located at 2290 E. Highway 190, and has been approved by the Coryell County Elections Coordinator. This is in addition to the Copperas Cove Early Voting Center in the Cove Terrace Shopping Center.
Early voting in the 2024 CCISD Bond Election is slated to begin April 22nd and run through April 30th. All weekday early voting will run from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. and weekend voting is available April 27th from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. and April 28th from Noon-3 p.m. Election Day is May 4th.

Additionally, the board unanimously approved the purchase of equipment to make needed upgrades at Lea Ledger Auditorium to replace the existing sound system and provide a better experience for the district’s Fine Arts programs.
“We want to ensure our students have state-of-the-art equipment, in order to provide them with not only the best possible experience, but the best possible opportunities for success,” Burns said. “This upgrade will go a long way in ensuring that our students have those opportunities, while also providing a better experience for community members at the auditorium.”
The board also approved the renewal of the Schoology Learning Management System and other software services for the district Tuesday.
The Board of Trustees is scheduled to hold its regular April workshop on April 15th at Noon with its regular meeting the following evening at 6:30 p.m. Both meetings will be held in the Board Room at the CCISD Service & Training Center at 408 South Main Street.
