COPPERAS COVE – Three elementary schools in Copperas Cove have garnered more national recognition.
House Creek, Martin Walker and Fairview/Jewell Elementary Schools have each been named to Educational Results Partnership’s 2025 Honor Roll list of top performing schools in Texas, earning a STAR-level designation for outperforming peer campuses in closing achievement gaps in Reading/Language Arts and Math on state-mandated testing in the past three years.
“House Creek is truly honored to be recognized as a recipient of the ERP Honor Roll distinction,” said Principal Carolyn Jackson. “This achievement reflects the exceptional dedication of our teachers, the perseverance of our students and the unwavering support of our families. This recognition is a testament to our sustained focus on excellence and our shared commitment to ensuring every student’s long-term success.”
House Creek Elementary is making its second consecutive appearance on the ERP Honor Roll, after being named CCISD’s first National Blue Ribbon School in 2023.
Fairview/Jewell Elementary was named to the Honor Roll for the first time.
“Our nomination to the Educational Results Partnership Honor Roll is a direct reflection of the relentless dedication of our teachers, staff and students at Fairview/Miss Jewell Elementary,” said Principal Dr. Rebekah Shuck. “Every day, our team goes above and beyond—providing tutoring, late-night Thursday tutorials and meaningful opportunities through The Leader In Me and student clubs like Drumline, Archery, Honor Choir, Robotics and Basketball—to develop the whole child. This recognition honors not just academic achievement, but the culture of leadership, perseverance and excellence our students and staff live out each day.”
In 2025, Fairview/Jewell earned five of six possible academic distinctions from the Texas Education Agency.
Martin Walker Elementary was also named to the Honor Roll for the first time.
“We’re proud and excited to be named an ERP Honor Roll school,” said Principal Kelly Thompson. “This award speaks to the dedication of our students, the heart of our staff and the support of our families. At Martin Walker Elementary, we show every day what it means to be a place where kids come first.”
Martin Walker also earned five of six possible academic distinctions from the Texas Education Agency during the 2025 accountability cycle, where it was awarded an “A” rating.
In 2025, only 15% of eligible campuses in Texas were named to this Honor Roll list, placing each of these three elementary schools among the top schools in the state.
Each of these three campuses were also named to this year’s list of U.S. News & World Report’s Best Elementary Schools in Texas, and honor they’ve each earned for three consecutive years.
“Each of these three elementary campuses embodies everything it means to be a Bulldawg,” said Superintendent Dr. Brent Hawkins. “They have set the standard for excellence that our families have come to expect from Copperas Cove ISD and continue to raise the bar on how we serve our students every day. I am incredibly proud of everybody who played a role, students, staff and parents, alike, and look forward to our continued work at enhancing the educational experience in Cove.”
Educational Results Partnership recognizes two designation levels, with STAR acknowledging work for campuses and districts with 33% or greater of its student population designated as economically disadvantaged and Scholar for campuses and districts with less than 33% of its students designated as economically disadvantaged.
CCISD, as a school district, continues to outperform both the region and state averages across state-mandated testing, and in other measures, according to the Texas Academic Progress Report. As of the 2024-25 TEA accountability ratings, eight of the district’s 11 campuses were rated as a “B” or better.
